If you’ve always wanted to go whale watching on the Big Island, and your here in November or Early December, you’re in luck, because we are giving you that option! Humpback whales travel to the Hawaiian waters every winter, usually arriving in late December and leaving in late March, but this last few years, they were here earlier and left earlier! We are opening a new early booking option to go on a whale watch in the hopes that traveling plans for the whales are the same for this year.

We do want to explain that the humpback whales arrival and departure to the Hawaiian waters changes every year. Last year they were extremely early, so we are planning for the likelihood that our season could start early again. We like to be extremely transparent with our guests. We are opening the reservations, however, if it seems that the whales have still not arrived early, as expected, we will cancel and refund your bookings. Feel free to reach out to us at any time if you have any questions or concerns.

As far as our activity itself, we depart from Puako boat ramp and we immediately enter the nursing grounds of mother humpback whales and their babies. This alone gives us a great opportunity to find these humpbacks! Go out a little further and you may witness a competition pod, a battle between males over the female. The captains and crew are very knowledgeable about these animal’s behavior and will share insightful facts throughout the entire trip.

Included are light snacks and drinks, along with an in depth interpretation of these animals. We encourage you bring rain jackets, and a towel. We do operate this vessel in most conditions. We encourage you to be prepared for all weather conditions, as the wildlife is still as active, or more active in inclement weather. We encourage you to plan accordingly.
