Encounter Whales in Their Natural Habitat!

At Adventure X, we live for whale season! Humpback whales begin arriving in Hawaiian waters as early as late October and may linger until May, with the peak season from late December to early April. Join us during these months for an unforgettable experience with these magnificent creatures.

Our 2-hour tours are packed with excitement and surprises. Departing from Kawaihae Harbor, we enter the nursery grounds where mothers and calves enjoy the shallower waters. Further out, you might witness a competition pod—males battling for the attention of females. Every trip is unique, with new behaviors and moments that keep us all on the edge of our seats.

Though humpbacks spend much of their time underwater, we’ll watch for breaching and other surface behaviors. We’ll also listen for singing whales using our underwater hydrophone and take a moment to appreciate their beautiful songs, learning how these sounds are essential to their survival.

Throughout the tour, our captain and crew provide engaging commentary, sharing facts, interpretations, and stories about humpback whales—from the latest science to traditional tales. Our decades of experience allow us to bring fresh energy and excitement to each adventure, helping you create once-in-a-lifetime memories.

Snacks (including fresh pineapple) and cold beverages (La Croix, Ginger Ale, Fresca, Hawaiian juice, and bottled water) are provided. Don’t forget your sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen!

We’re conveniently located near all Waikoloa Resort area hotels, including Hilton, Kingsland, Marriott, Mauna Lani Auberge, Fairmont, Westin Hapuna, and Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Kona guests are welcome to make the scenic drive up the Kohala Coast—it’s worth it!
