Hawaii Manta Ray Night Snorkel

One of the Big Island’s most unique experiences, our Manta Night Snorkel departs from Kawaihae Harbor, just a short drive from the Waikoloa Resort area. After a brief 10–15 minute boat ride to the northern manta viewing site, we anchor in a scenic bay and provide a quick briefing on water safety, what to expect, and fascinating facts about manta rays.

Slip into the water and witness these incredible, gentle creatures feeding on plankton under bright lights. Guided by our experienced team, you’ll watch manta rays perform graceful somersaults—sometimes close enough it feels like you could reach out to them—creating a truly once-in-a-lifetime encounter.

While manta rays are wild animals and sightings cannot be guaranteed, we see them over 90% of the time. If you don’t see any on your trip, we offer a “Come Again Free” ticket (given daily at 3 PM on a first-come, first-served standby basis). Refunds are not available, as this tour requires significant operational costs.

Wetsuits are provided, and we ask for your height and weight ahead of time to ensure the correct fit. Wetsuits are highly recommended but not required. Drinks and a snack will be waiting for you on the boat upon your return. All participants planning to enter the water must be able to swim; an observer rate is not available, but full-price tickets can still enjoy the view from the boat.

Tours run with a minimum of 6 guests and a maximum of 18. Earlier departure times are recommended, though the likelihood of manta sightings is the same on each trip. When our main tour is full, a secondary Late Night Manta Snorkel is sometimes available.
